The Smoking Den

Selfless lioness
Streaking back
To a smoking den.
Safe already.
But refusing to
Run.

Helpless cub
With shaky legs.
Whimpering, whimpering.
Longing for help
That seems impossible.
With one last faint cry echoing from the dark den
It waits for inevitable death.

And the lioness bounds in.
To save.
Just as
The
Den
Falls.
A hero with a last stand.

I wrote this for my language arts class about someone/some action I admire. Guess what it is in the comments and you can win a comment shout out on my blog!!

Ten years ago.

Hey everyone, so Sunday is the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and I thought I'd try and crank out a few verses so here is what I came up with.

They thought they were unshakable

Two monuments of success

Planes were not bombs

Ten years ago.

No one could hate America

We felt safe

And then the first plane hit

ten years ago.

"We have reports that a plane has hit the World Trade Center."

"I don't know what happened!"

"People are jumping!"

Ten years ago.

Smoke everywhere.

People dying.

And the second plane hit.

Ten years ago.

The towers gone.

Crashing to the ground.

Clocks stopped at 8:45-exactly.

Ten years ago.

"We don't know where she is!"

"Please call us."

"He was on that plane!"

Ten years ago.

Weeping in the streets.

Terror in homes.

Unknowing-everywhere.

Ten years ago.

Presidental speeches.

Flags everywhere.

Finally knowing. And hurting.

Ten years ago.

A country banded together.

Refusing to forget.

Helping each other.

Ten years ago.

Helping friends.

Standing with our President

Our country refusing to be torn apart.

Ten years ago.

Staying strong.

Living life again.

Remembering.

Ten years ago.

Refusing to be brought down.

Staying free. Fighting.

Proud to be Americans.

Ten years ago.

The thought they were unshakeable.

They weren't. But America was.

Two beams of light at Ground Zero.

Piercing the sky.

And showing that we

are

united

Now.

They say forget

ATTENTION!!! This poem is not suitable for children and may be too scary.

Thousands

Shoved into this death trap.

Forced to become

unnoticeable.

Not a threat.

No longer their own.

Forced to be the same.

Forget their names,

their families

forget that life used to be anything but

dirtyness

cold

work

hunger

pain

death.

Forget everything!

They beat it into us .

And especially they want us

to forget hope.

But no matter how hard they try

how loud they scream

how terrible they treat us

how many of us they kill

We will not forget.

And the Holocaust has begun.

I Have No Title For This Post

Hey everyone. How's it going? Summer is pretty crazy. Whenever i sit down it seems like there's this HUGE breath that just whooshes out of me. But not in a bad way. More like a " wow that was so fun but if I was not 12 I would seriously need some coffee right now " kind of breath. And it feels good. I like it. So right now I'm just sitting down to type a blog post when I really should be doing something like sports drills because that's what I feel like now. I guess that's summer, right?

My Super Long Vacation Post

Heh Heh. Hello Everyone. I didn't plan to post, but then I saw everyone else's super long and detailed vacation posts, and decided to at least ATTEMPT a post. There are no photos with me in them because, well, we just got back. So....Here you have it. My vacation. Right. Well....On June 15, my Mom drove me and my siblings up to my grandparents house in Michigan. She stayed a few days, then left. My grandparents were going to take us to see The Great Lakes of Michigan and all their sights. It was sooooo amazing. There were lakes everywhere. I had the best time. If you ever get the chance-go there! My grandparents and I (plus my siblings) drove four hours up to a ADORABLE little cabin at a KOA campground. The campground was awesome. There was a giant chessboard where we played chss, a pool, and.... a jumping Pillow, which is like a trampoline and looks like this.

Cool, right? Yup. Then we went to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. 3 1/2 miles of sandy landscape with tiny crevices to hide in a huge hills to hike up then fly down. It was amazing, and we hiked about 5 1/2 miles of them. (2 1/4 there, 2 1/4 back) They look kinda like this.

Awesome. The next day we went to Traverse City and shopped a little there. We also went and saw the Grand Traverse City Lighthouse. I went to the very top and looked down. All you could see was lakes. Super cool. The is the Lighthouse. It was a light house but the keeper and his family lived there so it was a house too. That day we got to go down by the COLD water and we waded in and jumped from rock to rock.

The next day we went on the Tall Ship Manitou. Woah. Totally one of my favorite parts of vacation. It was this huge sailboat. We went on it for two hours and helped to hoist the sails, and ate lunch. We also got to see below deck. You could stay a night there but we didn't. I was kinda glad, because it was pretty cramped down there! The crew lives aboard the ship. Then it started storming! There was thunder and lightning and rain. The crew was going crazy, hoisting down the sails. We all went below deck until it passed. Then we got off the boat and ran for the cars. It was so cool. This is the ship.

That day we also went to a cherry shop, because in Traverse City they grow 76% of America's cherries. It's crazy. There are cherries EVERYWHERE!!! We got some different cherry stuff and went back to the campground.

The next morning we packed up from the campgroud and drove 2 1/2 hours to Mackinaw City. On the way we stopped in Petoskey and searched fro special petoskey stones. When we got to Mackinaw City we stayed at a hotel. That night we shopped in the city. There were so many cool shops! I got some pins for my backpack. Then we ate at The Pancake Chef. Next we headed back to the hotel and swam in the pool there. We also waded in the lake by the water, but the water was chilly! It was very foggy. Here is a picture of the Mackinaw Bridge right by our hotel. It is five miles long and leads from Michigan to the Upper Peninsula!

The next day we took a ferry to Mackinaw Isalnd. MY FAVORITE PART OF THE TRIP!! The island is amzing. There are no cars, so everyone uses bikes to get around. There are bikes everywhere. People have baskets attached to them in order to carry things. I saw a man with his dog in one!! People set their bikes on the side of the road and go into stores. No chains! And they don't wear helmets. There are taxis on the island in case you need to carry luggage. They aren't cars though- they are horse-drawn carriages. The horses poop in the roads, so they have these people who ride around on bicycles with big crates and shovels to scoop up the poop! It's so cool. :) Some of the carriages go to the GRand Hotel-the biggest summer hotel in the world. We walked through it and it was sooo fancy and gorgeous. All the rooms are different and so pretty. They have a little shop heer you can buy the towels, soap, pens, and evn beds that they use there. In the morning we also went to Fort Mackinaw-a military fort- and saw some cool buildings and listened to some demonstrations. It was fun! Then we rented bikes and rode around the island-8 miles! We also saw this rock arch which is this natural rock arch. You had to climb a bunch of stairs to see it. We also shopped and bought some of Mackinaw Islands famous fudge! IT IS SOOOOO AMAZING! I love Mackinaw island. It is totally where I want to live when I grow up!! Here's some photo's!

A horse-drawn carriage

The Grand Hotel (built in 90 days)

All the bikes along the road!!!

Making fudge. The crazy thing is, I think we met this guy! :)

After the island we headed back to my grandparents! It was so fun and definitely one of the best vacations I have ever had. Well, this concludes my longest post ever, and if you are still with me, I'm REALLY surprised! So, my super long vacation post. Yep.

Zilla

We just got a new dog! Her name is Zilla (means little shadow in Hebrew) and she is the cutest, sweetest little dog ever! She is very calm and can't stand it when she's not around people! She just got spayed, so she is not at the top of her game, but every day she has more energy. I love her soooo much!

Lice: That little bug that is really annoying and causes lots of trouble and is the subject of this post! WHEW!

LICE! EWWW! So at my school this week there has been an outbreak of LICE! On Monday they had a doctor come in and he and Mrs. Black (a mom who is a nurse) checked everyone in the junior high for lice! Well there are 32 people in my junior high and all but 8 got sent home! I know! The doctor said he found one lice egg on me so I had to go home. That was a pain because we had to wash everything! Bedsheets, couches, coats, clothes-EVERYTHING! Then I did a lice shampoo and my mom combed out my hair for an HOUR! In all that time she didn't see a single louse so we are not even sure if it was just dirt or what! Anyway, it is all calming down now and I am glad because I don't like wearing a hat all the time! THE END!

Twitter VS Facebook

Social Networks are a very big part of our lives. Everybody has a facebook, twitter, or MySpace, and you can find almost anyone from anywhere in the world online. But everyone argues-which social network is the best?

Some arguements for Twitter:

*Great for buisness
*addicting
*simpler than blogging
*hashtags are always fun to use
*Great for people who aren't allowed a facebook
*protective

Some arguements for Facebook

*Good for connecting with old pals
*good for teens
*addicting
*fun to like things
*easy to post pictures

Twitter is more for meeting people you don't know that share some of your interests, to give advice, funny quotes and things. It's great for sharing great buisness deals, things like that. Facebook is people you KNOW, the people who you would be comfortable saying " My two-year-old just went in the potty for the first time!" Family updates, things like that.

Maybe we all need a little of both in our lives. After all, if you don't remember the old, there's no use in meeting the new.

O Praise Him

Today At Transformation we celebrated our one year anniversary. The whole service was fantastic, but my favorite part was the end, when the worship band sang O Praise Him. Definetly one of my all time favorite songs. If you Google the song you can play it for free. here are the lyrics:

Turn your ear
To Heaven and hear
The noise inside
The sound of angels awe
The sound of angels' songs
And all this for a King
We could join and sing
'All to Christ our King!'

How constant
How divine
This song of ours will rise
Oh, how constant
How divine
This love of ours will rise
Will rise...

CHORUS:
Ohh praise Him!
Ohh praise Him!
He is Holy!
He is Holy!

Turn your gaze
To Heaven and raise
A joyous noise
Oh the sound of salvation come
The sound of rescued ones
And all this for a king
Angels join to sing
'All for Christ our King!'

CHORUS {x2}

Oh la la la la la la..
Oh la la la la la la..
Oh la la la la la... laaa laa laa laaa!

CHORUS

How infinite and sweet
This love so rescuing
Oh how infinitely sweet
This great love that has redeemed
As one, we sing...

OUTRO:
Hallelujah,
Hallelujah
He is Holy,
He is Holy

OUTRO

CHORUS

Oh la la la la la la..
Oh la la la la la la..
Oh la la la la la... laaa laa laa laaa!

OUTRO

CHORUS

Oh la la la la la la..
Oh la la la la la la..
Oh la la la la la... laaa laa laa laaa laa!

Are you praising Him today?

America's Next Travolta

So our theme for drama this year is Time Machine. Drama through the ages. All that stuff. Anyway, everyone is preparing their skits,dances-talent for next week. And someone had the idea for Grease......

There are six "big girls" in drama. Sixth and up. And we are going to put into production the song "We Go Together" from Grease. It's gonna be AWESOME!The song is very peppy and has lots of nonsense words. I can't wait for next week! The question everyone is asking is- Are these girls the next Travolta and Newton-John????

sledding

I know. There have been whispers. Is she dead? I haven't heard from her, have you? No! Well, I am still very much alive (I heard that groan) and have been very busy. I had a great Christmas, and you can check out my mom's blog to see some pictures, but first we had Christmas here, my Grandpa flew in, and we also had Christmas in Michigan, so here are some very funny, but painful while happening, photos.
